While FCSI-The Americas started to move to Revit back in 2011, in the UK, Revit became a requirement long before US Government projects began requiring it.  Moreover, they quickly embraced the asset management elements that here in the US, most foodservice consultants either are not asked to do or ignore.  But with focus on life cycle and sustainability, and with newfound knowledge that foodservice equipment can be tracked in asset management software just like HVAC equipment, building materials, furnishings, lighting, carpet and other building elements, refrigeration was one of the early adopters, in particular because refrigerants were not all alike.  LEED 4.1 added another element because refrigeration is REGULATED and although most refrigeration on projects uses green refrigerants such as R290 and R600a that use less than 8 oz of refrigerant per compressor and no longer need to be reported, wattage DOES.  So how's THAT going to work.  In this seminar, I will explain Revit as a database, explain BIM Level 3, show how to add asset management parameters to Revit families, but even better, make it the DEALER's job to populate them so the owner saves weeks of data entry into their asset management software.
