Some consultants are being asked to design cannabis facilities but they've never been in one. Medical cannabis dispensaries are governed by legal states' departments of health, whereas recreational cannabis dispensaries are most often governed by the same agencies responsible for alcohol and tobacco.

As such the rules are very different in terms of design due to patient privacy. On top of that, the types of products sold vary from state to state.  For instance, in MD, and edible is a capsule, but in Arizona, you can purchase a 2000 mg. brownie that has a 60 day shelf life if stored at the proper temperature.

But what else has to be refrigerated in a cannabis dispensary?

And what should NEVER be? It might surprise you.

Also, what can a patient touch?

What are they allowed to see or handle?

How you future-proof a dispensary design in a state that might go recreational, or eventually allow some sort of consumption onsite, or simply have a cafe?

In this fascinating, uplifting seminar, learn from someone who has been working "undercover" in the cannabis industry for the last two years which is a story in itself, and can demonstrate the pitfalls of not having a design professional involved at the beginning, during procurement and for future planning.
